Clear thinking for complex business decisions.

Spicer & Company helps entrepreneurs and owner-led businesses understand what matters, see opportunities more clearly, and decide what to do next.

Where I can help

Different questions.
The same need for clarity.

When there are several possible paths forward, I help clarify the real question, identify what matters most and turn complexity into a practical direction.

Strategy & Direction

I help businesses understand how customers actually think, choose and behave – and bring that perspective into the decisions that shape the business.

Customer Insight

From value proposition and messaging to market priorities, pricing and growth opportunities, I help make sure the business is clear about what it offers, who it matters to and why.

Marketing & Positioning

Real estate & development

A home is a product long before it becomes a property.

Real estate decisions are often driven by the site, financing, planning requirements, construction costs and what the market has done before. Those things matter. But so does the person who will eventually choose to live there.

I have a particular interest in missing-middle housing and smaller development projects, where understanding the customer can influence decisions about positioning, unit design, amenities, pricing, communications and the overall offer.

I bring a customer and marketing perspective to the development team — helping owners ask who the project is really for, what those people value, what may be missing, and how those insights should shape the decisions being made.

How I work

From a complex question to a clear next step.

Every engagement is shaped by the question at hand, but the work usually follows a simple pattern: understand the situation, make sense of what matters, and turn that understanding into practical direction.

Listen

Conversations with the people closest to the business, the opportunity and the customer.

Understand

Pull together the patterns, tensions and insights that matter most.

Cut through the noise. Define the real question, the priorities and the implications for the business.

Clarify & distill

When useful, the work is captured in a concise, plain-language brief — typically 5–15 pages — that brings together the key insights, recommendations and next actions.

Recommend

Turn the thinking into clear recommendations and practical next steps.

Have an issue or opportunity you’re working through?

Sometimes the most useful first step is simply getting another perspective on the question.
